The PA Democratic Party is currently looking for full-time and part-time interns for late summer/fall 2012 in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, and other locations across the Commonwealth. These positions will combine work in multiple campaign disciplines including communications, research, finance, field, data, and more in efforts to assist Democratic candidates at all levels in 2012.
Additionally, they are posting for a new fellowship program for PA Dems’ Social Organizing program. Through Facebook, Twitter, PA Democratic Party databases and other programs, Social Organizing fellows will be tasked with getting Democratic Activists to engage their networks in the political process, contacting voters about making sure that they are able to vote properly under new laws, and other tasks.

Kathleen Kane’s campaign for Pennsylvania Attorney General is seeking part-time interns to assist in all aspects of the campaign. Positions will be based in Philadelphia. If you are interested, please e-mail gstefanoni@kathleengkane.com. Prior political campaign experience is preferred but not required.
The CREDO Action “Take Down the Tea Party Ten” campaign is seeking progressive organizers to assist in ousting Tea Party congressional incumbents throughout the country. Organizers have the chance to be a part of history and fight the good fight against the racist, anti-women and bigoted organization known as the “Tea Party”.
Field Organizers will be responsible for engaging in electoral field operations on a cutting edge campaign that utilizes the most current and best practices in field operations as well as participate in opposition advance work including tracking and birdogging. This portion of the campaign will give voters the ability to see what the true colors are of the Tea Party and field organizers will be instrumental in making this happen. There will be paid training provided on all aspects of the campaign.
Qualified Applicants should:
1.) Relocate if necessary (we work to keep Field Organizers in a reasonable region).
2.) Have a car with insurance and posses a valid drivers license.
3.) Be on board to work in campaign mode from April 16th through November 9th, 2012.
4.) Demonstrate the ability to recruit and train volunteers to be leaders on the campaign.
5.) Ability to deliver the progressive message of CREDO Action.
6.) Ability to meet tight deadlines and work in a high pressure environment.
7.) Ability to demonstrate organizing skills.
8.) Possess a good sense of humor and the ability to roll with the punches.

The Democratic National Convention Committee in Charlotte wants to reach out to Penn Democrats both about summer internships and convention volunteer opportunities.
Theo LeCompte’s department is responsible for all of the operational planning at the convention venues including the Time Warner Cable Arena and Bank of America Stadium. There will be a few intern spots available this summer in Charlotte. There will also be a big need for volunteers during convention week. In both cases, I would appreciate you spreading the word to your fellow Penn Dems about the opportunities.

Looking for campaign staff and field managers to aid in the fight for equality.
Campaign staff will go out into communities and go door-to-door, or go into public places and talk with people about the issues, raise money, and build membership for organizations the fund supports. Canvassers also have the opportunity to work with the media, help build coalitions with other organizations, and mobilize activists to help the fund win its campaigns.
Campaign staff will make $400-600 a week.
Field Managers work closely with the Canvass Director to meet the goals of the office. They direct a crew of canvassers daily, overseeing a variety of canvass field activities, including: meeting personal fundraising and petition gathering goals; training and motivating the other members of the crew; and coordinating canvass logistics, such as developing a strategy to build support in a neighborhood.
Field Managers earn an additional $50-$100 each week.

Former Congressman Patrick Murphy is running for Attorney General of Pennsylvania and is looking for interns to help him become the first Democrat ever elected to this office.
Interns will work with the campaign staff to research a broad array of issues, synthesize relevant information and help prepare briefs and memos for Congressman Murphy. Areas of research will cover the local impact of national issues as well as the major state issues affecting Pennsylvanians. Interns will also be expected to perform numerous administrative duties in the office, to stay on top of the actions of the Pennsylvania legislature and to help collect and organize the important news stories of the day. Interns should have strong research skills and the ability to write clearly and concisely.

Want to learn how to organize the community and help reelect the president? Become an Organizing for America Fall Fellow.
The Fall Fellowship is a 12 week internship program that will train and develop the next generation of community organizers. Fall Fellows will help the campaign expand its outreach efforts in communities across the country. Fellows who complete the program will leave with a full understanding of the most effective tools and methods that organizers use to make change in their communities. The program begins in early September and ends in early December.

Looking for interns who want to work to protect small farmers and the environment by urging Congress and Senator Casey to implement Fair Farm Rules that will level the playing field for small and mid-sized farmers, ensuring a healthier food system
and environment.
Students will have the opportunity to develop a variety of skills, including performing community outreach to thousands of people through both online and offline methods, building coalitions with a wide variety of groups, and learning to coordinate campaign events that both engage citizens and pressure targets – all in the context of learning about the health, economic, and environmental impact of US agricultural policy.

Offering an internship opportunity to a junior or senior college student who will commit 12- 15 hours per week to this fast-paced work environment. Responsibilities include collecting and organizing electronic, print and TV media clips, updating and maintaining databases, answering phones and assisting with general administrative duties. Drafting talking points, media advisories, press releases or other writing projects that require advanced writing skills is required. Assisting with the management of social networking tools may be required. Our interns are often invited to attend events and/or internal meetings to acquire a better understanding of municipal government’s internal and external functions. This opportunity is ideal for learning about municipal operations, politics, public service, public relations, media relations, community organizing, crisis communications, event planning and teamwork. Those majoring in communications and/or government studies are encouraged to apply.
Candidates must have excellent writing, research, customer service, phone, and computer skills.
