Fan’s of  Fox’s T.V. show House were in for a shock last week  Kal Penn’s character Lawrence Kutner was suddenly killed off the hit show. The move however was not for television’s sake. Tuesday, it was announced that Penn, a former Penn visiting professor and active Obama volunteer, would be taking on a new role, setting acting aside to become associate director of the White House Office of Public Liaison where he will focus on reaching out to young people, arts professionals and Asian Americans. Penn describes the move as “bittersweet” but felt a “[call] to public service”. Many analysts believe that the White House will continue to hire politically active members of the Hollywood community to help sell his programs in what some describe as “a kind of permanent campaign”.
