University of Pennsylvania Democrats Endorse Seth Williams for D.A.
Penn Dems Declare Williams the Best Candidate for D.A.
PHILADELPHIA: University of Pennsylvania Democrats announced their support of Seth Williams for Philadelphia District Attorney after he won the support of two-thirds of their members this evening. The group cited Williams’ extensive experience and commitment to community-based prosecution.
“After evaluating each candidate’s plans for the District Attorney’s Office, Seth was the clear choice for our endorsement,” said Jordan Levine, President of Penn Dems. “His enthusiasm for reform was a call-to-action for our members, and we are excited to help Seth’s campaign.”
University of Pennsylvania Democrats formally endorsed Seth following a candidates’ forum on Monday evening that four of the five Democratic candidates attended. “I am honored to have the support of the Penn Dems,” Seth said. “These students are dedicated to change, and I am excited to have their youth and enthusiasm behind me.”
University of Pennsylvania Democrats is a student organization dedicated to local, regional and national politics. Members routinely volunteer on campaigns, organizing students, registering voters, canvassing and phone banking. Most recently, during the 2008 presidential election, Penn Dems registered more students than any other campus organization and increased voter turnout at Penn, with more than 90 percent of students voting and more than 80 percent voting for President Barack Obama.
Penn Dems’ endorsement is the latest in Seth’s growing list of supporters, which includes more than a dozen former Assistant District Attorneys and 11 state elected officials.
Seth Williams, the City’s former Inspector General, has 10 years of experience as a top prosecutor and supervisor in Philadelphia’s District Attorney’s Office. For more information, please visit his campaign website at www.votesethwilliams.com.
