Political Advertising for 2008 Election to Reach a Projected $3 Billion

According to a Campaign Media Analysis Group report released this week, television advertisements for the 2008 Presidential election is set to reach historical highs at 3 billion dollars.

Republican candidate and former Massachusetts Governer Mitt Romney leads all candidates in TV advertising expenditure. His ads have aired 11,000 times costing 8.6 million dollars, a record in and of itself. His opponent, former New York City mayor, Rudi Guilani has spent nothing on television ads, yet still leads the national polls.

For the Democratic nomination, Illinois Senator Barack Obama has spent 2.3 million while New York Senator Hillary Clinton to date has pushed 1.3 million into her television campaign. Clinton leads in both the national and early state polls.
