The title of this post is a quote from CNN which for the time being has as its lead story that Palin is smearing Obama by saying he associates with terrorists. That he “is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country.”

This is truly sad. I hope the American people are intelligent enough to not trust such candidates. The fact that they would try to make Obama out to be a terrorist-sympathizer is simply disgusting. Disgusting. And if McCain and Palin had any semblance of honor and pride, they would retract those comments immediately. Unfortunately, they don’t, and have decided to focus more on spewing out-right lies about Obama instead of focusing on the issues such as the economy. This move is not surprising, however, given that the Republicans truly don’t have a leg to stand on anymore. Joe Biden summed it up perfectly towards the end of the Vice Presidential debate. John McCain is not a maverick. He does not differ from Bush on major issues. He might be a good guy. A friend. But certainly not a maverick.

Towards the beginning of the primary season McCain was the one pushing the idea of an all-positive, no-nonsense campaign. Instead, he now sets his leashed pitpull, Palin, out to make baseless, senseless remarks to people they expect will digest such trashy remarks. Do the Republicans take the public to be complete idiots? Who knows. And who knows whether it will work or not.

I like Obama. I might not be as passionate about his candidacy as some of my friends and family, but I like him. However, what will make my vote passionate this year is not that Obama is such an amazing candidate, or that he is the one and only hope for this country ( that well may be, though). It is that I simply cannot stomach the idea of having two people in office who go so far as to essentially label their opponent as a terrorist.

Who knows, maybe in a week or so we’ll be hearing “Osama” slip out of Palin and McCain’s mouths. By accident, of course.
