Run for the 2010 Penn Democrats Board!
Elections will be held Tuesday, December 1st at 8PM in Huntsman G65
Candidate Statements due to president@penndems.org by Sunday at noon (see below for more details).
Eligibility
Any student who has attended two events or volunteered twice during the 2009 calendar year is eligible to vote for the next Penn Democrats board. We ask that if you do come to the meeting that you stay for the entire election.
Any student who is eligible to vote is also eligible to run for any position as long as he/she will be at Penn for the duration of the year (if you’re studying abroad in Spring/Fall 2010, you are not eligible to run for a board position, although you can still vote).
Rules
1. Anyone can declare his/her candidacy up until the meeting begins at 7pm on December 1st.
2. It is strongly encouraged that candidates submit a 300-word statement to president@penndems.orgexplaining why they want to run for a specific board position. These statements will be sent out in a listserv email in the order they are received. Historically, these statements explain the candidate’s past involvement with Penn Democrats as well as any relevant experience that qualifies him/her for a particular board position. Statements must be submitted by Sunday November 29 at noon.
3. The board positions are for the duration of the 2010 calendar year.
The PennDems board has voted unanimously to amend the slate of positions in PennDems to better reflect the current operations of the organization. Pending simple majority ratification at the beginning of the meeting on December 1st, the following positions will be up for election:
President
Vice-President
Events Director
Political Director
Community Outreach Director
Communications Director
Membership Director
Treasurer (includes fundraising duties)
Legislative Director
Elections will take place in the order presented above. Those who do not win election will have the opportunity to “drop down” to any other position(s) subsequently up for election.
Any questions should be directed to Jordan Levine at president@penndems.org.
